As we approach the holidays and look ahead to 2025, I’ve been reflecting on routines and realizing something important: my routine can, and should, be anything I want it to be.

We spend so much time looking at how others structure their days—when they work, when they rest, how they fit it all in. It’s tempting to try to copy what we see, but maybe it’s time to pause and ask ourselves what truly makes us feel productive, happy, and inspired.

I was reminded of this recently in an email from Modest Mitkus of Pathpages (a fantastic Notion creator). His message about schedules struck a chord—it was a truth I already knew, but had been struggling to fully embrace.

Here’s the thing: we often hear about “perfect” morning routines that involve waking up at 4 or 5 a.m., hitting the gym, meditating, journaling, and reading—all wonderful activities. But as Modest pointed out, many of the people sharing these routines have a level of support that allows them to focus solely on those habits.

For me, running a solo agency by choice means my days look different. I’m the one responsible for everything, and while I have the flexibility to design my day, my routine needs to reflect my reality and my goals.

So, I’ve stopped trying to fit my life into someone else’s routine.

As you plan for the new year, give yourself the grace to create a rhythm that works for you. Whether you’re a morning person, a night owl, or somewhere in between, it’s okay to do things your way.

Your routine doesn’t have to impress anyone else. It just has to work for you. 💛
